Real Food. Real People.

Barbecue season is still months away, but that doesn't mean you can't cook a delicious homemade hamburger and not one of those unhealthy mass produced! And even though the grill makes everything much better, there's nothing like preparing burgers for your friends and family.

That's why here at the Great Harvest Bread Co. we made a quick guide so you can create the perfect burger that will calm your meat craving.

Choosing the Meat

If you want to have a great burger you are going to need great meat. Go to your local butcher and ask for a grinded meat chuck. It's very important that you get it with at least 20% fat. This will make a juicy burger!

Spice it Up!

Gently put your meat in a bowl where you will be working, by now you should have chopped onion and garlic, the spices of your choice (cumin, coriander, chilli) and an egg yolk. Start mixing those ingredients and remember to avoid handling the meat too much, this will only cause the meat to lose some of its fat.

Shaping it

Now that the ingredients are combined, divide the meat into 6 balls of the same size and gently create the burger shape. They should be about half an inch and when they are done, press the center of your soon to be burger with your thumb. This will prevent uneven cooking.

Choose your Toppings

We are almost ready! While your burgers are at the frying pan or grill, wash lettuce and tomatoes and slice them. If the usual ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise combo works for you that's great, but you can always add bacon, avocado, pickles, jalape ;os and many other things!
Hamburger buns are also an important part of the process! But don't worry, we've got your back here at Great Harvest, where you will not only find the buns you need to complete your burger, but also the best bread in Butte
